A sandstone base, raw and earthy.
An ancient globe, ample and generous,
like a carnal silhouette, a whole presence.

And yet, behind this reassuring roundness,
a delicate matter is hidden:
a thin, fragile glass,
ready to break at the slightest jolt.

I chose to call it “ Boule de Suif ”,
in homage to Maupassant's heroine.
Prostitute with a big heart,
she embodies the simplest generosity,
the one who gives without calculation,
and yet is rejected, despised, sacrificed by others.

This lamp tells of its light:
round, fragile and stubborn,
able to withstand the surrounding darkness.
A domestic star that shines despite injustice,
a whole presence that does not apologize for existing.
